How to Beat Winter Skin

Hi guys! I can't believe March is in a few days! Once we get past February, I feel like time flies so fast. It's almost spring! Even though temps are starting to feel a little warmer here and there, my skin is still so dry. My hands are the place where my skin tends to be the driest and cracks because I am constantly washing my hands. But, my legs can get really dry in the winter as well, especially after shaving. Today I'm sharing my tips for beating that winter skin once and for all!

1. Exfoliate

I cannot stress this enough. If you're not getting off all the old dry skin, new cells can't come up! The first step in soft, smooth skin is exfoliating all the dead skin off. Especially on your face. I love using body scrubs and they don't have to be expensive to be effective! I love this one.

2. Moisturize

This one seems like a no brainer. Obviously after you exfoliate, you need to add that moisture back into your skin.

I love using this lotion all over my body and ESPECIALLY on my hands. My hands always get dry and cracked in the winter and this lotion is perfect because it sinks in quickly, it smells, amazing and it makes my skin so soft and moisturized for so long.

3. Drink Water

This has always been hard for me. I am not naturally a thirsty person so getting my 2 liters of water daily is a struggle. I don't really drink anything other than water so you can imagine what a dehydrated human being I am. BUT I recently got a giant cup to refill at work so I can reach my water goals and I've been going over that 2 liter mark everyday! The skin is 64% water so it's pretty important to stay hydrated so that your skin can be hydrated in the cold months. I have noticed that my hair and skin is a lot more hydrated since I started drinking more water so DRINK YO WATER!

4. Take a Cooler Shower

This one may seem extreme but I'm telling you, it makes a difference. I try not to take boiling hot showers in the winter because it dries out my skin like nobody's business. I'm not saying you have to take cold showers, but try not to fog up the bathroom mirror too much. My skin is much happier after a warm shower instead of a hot one.

Gabby
