Lipstick and lip gloss are my favorite kinds of makeup. Wearing your favorite shade of pink can turn any look from drab to fab am I right? Although I loved wearing lipstick and lip gloss as a teenager, I always struggled to find a color that looked good on me because I have such a fair skin tone. I had to experiment a lot but I finally figured out the best shades for different skin tones. Here's my guide to help you find the perfect shade for you!

Fair

I've found that bright colors look really good with fair skin tones. Bright pinks, purples, and deep reds tend to pop against our pale skin. I tend to stay away from bright reds because it can make your teeth look yellow and it's a little too much of a contrast. Deep red compliments our skin tone and it's one of my favorite colors to wear in the fall and the winter because that's when I'm the most pale. Try to stay away from anything with yellow undertones and colors that are very light because it'll only wash you out and make you more fluorescent. I also love lip colors with matte finishes. I just think they're so chic and look good on anyone. My absolute favorite drugstore lip colors are part of the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Gloss collection. I really like shade 300 Blushing Ambition and 318 Bare Attraction. They go on so smoothly and taste amazing! My go-to shade in the winter and fall is 435 Plum Perfect in the Maybelline Color Sensational collection. It's such a pretty dark color that I've gotten a lot of compliments on.

Plum Perfect-$5.59

Blushing Ambition-$7.99

Bare Attraction-$7.99

Olive

You are the luckiest gals because really any color looks good on you! Lucky Duckies! Nude colors, especially, look good on you guys because your skin tone is darker and it won't wash you out. Light pinks and bright reds tend to be your best friends because they stand out against your darker tone. One of my favorite lipsticks when I'm tan is part of the Covergirl Colorlicious collection shade 380 Yummy Pink! I actually wore this shade in one of my previous posts about stripes! It tastes yummy and it's a nice pale pink for when you're feeling girly. If you like a little more shine, I love the Neutrogena MoistureSmooth color sticks. They glide on really smoothly and have the best fruity taste! My fave shades are 110 Almond Nude and 150 Cherry Pink. These are really great shades that will pop for olive skin tones.

Yummy Pink-$5.99

Almond Nude-$7.99

Cherry Pink-$7.99

Darker

Deep, dark colors and super bright colors are what you should move toward and dark plum and berry shades look fantastic. The Plum Perfect shade I mentioned earlier would be perfect for this skin tone as well. Try to stay away from anything too light or pale because darker colors just tend to look more natural and flattering. Bright reds and pinks look great on darker skin tones because they really pop!

it can be hard to find the right lip color when you're not sure what colors flatter your skin tone the most. It's basic trial and error! See what you like and don't like. These are not hard and fast rules so feel free to deviate and mix it up! Hopefully my guide can help you find the most fabulous shade for you!
